About This Call
The Heart Goes Nine is a juried photography competition hosted by the Rhode Island Center for Photographic Arts, located at 118 N. Main St. Providence, RI. The exhibition runs from February 20th through March 13th, 2020, with a reception and awards ceremony on February 20th, 2020 from 5:00-9:00 p.m.
The call is juried by J. Sybylla Smith, an independent curator, educator, and photographer. The exhibition seeks experimental, personal, and innovative photography that explores individual vision and unique image-making abilities. Work should be idiosyncratic and heartfelt, moving beyond traditional constraints. Artists of all levels who are at least 18 years old are invited to enter. Work must be original, exhibition-ready, and open to all forms of photographic image-making in any process or technology. Maximum size is 48" including the frame. Artists may submit up to 10 photographs.
Entry fee is $45 for the first three images and $10 for each additional image. Current RICPA members receive a 20% discount. Awards include First Place: $250, Second Place: $150, and Third Place: $100. Delivery of accepted work must be received by February 17th. In-person deliveries are accepted February 15th from noon to 5:30 p.m. or by appointment. RICPA retains a 40% commission on works sold (20% for members). Artists retain all copyright to submitted images and grant RICPA the right to use images for marketing and online reproduction with artist recognition.
