About This Call

Request for Qualifications for a public art opportunity at The Grove at Frisco Commons, an active adult center opening in early 2019 at Frisco Commons park. The City of Frisco Public Art Program seeks qualifications from artists to be considered for this project. This opportunity is open to all artists internationally.

The public art project will be located in an exterior courtyard with glass walls of the building on one side and green spaces of the park on the other, accessible to audiences of all ages. The artwork will be displayed in an elevated planting bed, surrounded by landscaping and built-in benches. The artwork should be a freestanding, outdoor public artwork suitable to be viewed on a raised platform and from all angles, incorporate organic/natural forms and/or themes to complement the setting, be welcoming and safe, and be made of low-maintenance, durable materials resistant to vandalism. Completion is required by November 2018 (tentative) for the building opening. The project budget is $84,500.00, all-inclusive.

Submissions must be made online at www.callforentry.org by 4:00 p.m. CST on Thursday, June 22, 2017, and include: a completed submission cover page, a typed cover letter describing interest in the project and its relation to past work, a typed artist resume (no longer than three pages) with current contact information, a typed artist statement, three references with current contact information, and 5-15 images of past work with the first five being most relevant to the RFQ. The Artist Selection Committee will evaluate qualifications based on demonstrated excellence of past work, quality of professional qualifications and relevant experience, stated interest and approach specific to the project, and ability to create work meeting project goals. Finalists may be requested to develop proposals or be interviewed. Questions should be submitted to [email protected] by 4 p.m. CST on Friday, June 9, 2017.
