About This Call

The Greene Fellowship was founded in 2022 in loving memory of Bradford W. Greene. Co-founders Alexander Blume and Hannah Agosta created this fellowship to honor Brad's generosity and unwavering support of artists. The fellowship provides an unrestricted stipend, mentorship, and professional development training at a critical point in an artist's career.

The Greene Fellowship is reserved for working artists in the field of contemporary visual art living in Colorado or Western North Carolina. The fellowship seeks artists with a well-developed portfolio demonstrating a high level of skill, commitment, and authentic voice. As a critical part of this fellowship, artists receive access to experienced professionals in visual art, as well as business leaders and experts who guide them in professional development. Artists are expected to participate in monthly workshops with these professionals and mentorship sessions with the co-founders. Towards the end of the fellowship, artists will showcase work made throughout the year at a culminating exhibition (location and date to be determined).

Applicants must submit 5-10 portfolio samples (images or videos) demonstrating a high level of skill and commitment. Videos must be 60 seconds or shorter. Applicants must also submit an artist statement explaining concepts and mediums, obstacles faced, how the award would impact their lives, and their vision for the future. Eligibility requirements: living and working in Colorado or Western North Carolina, not enrolled in any degree-making program, 21 years of age or older, willing to attend 4-5 hours monthly of entrepreneurial training and one-on-one mentoring, working in contemporary visual art, and vocational artists (not avocational, academic, amateur, or educational).
