The Great Divide

Visual artists working primarily in clay are invited to submit work for the exhibition 'The Great Divide'. The thematic aspect of selected works will explore aesthetic, narrative, political or structural divides/divisions. At the same time that our world seemingly becomes smaller due to any number of systems (internet/transportation/etc), the differences between people would appear to be becoming greater. Postmodernism has made possible fractured aesthetics, varying materials juxtaposing, the exciting invention of new forms with diverse application, and a seemingly odd abstraction of surfaces, relationships, and casting away of what for centuries has been an assumed standard for high craftsmanship.

For this exhibition, there are no limitations to the conceptual or experimental. Both utilitarian and sculptural works are eligible. Entry fee is $25 for up to 3 entries. Submissions must include 1-3 images. Jury and curator: Bruce Dehnert.

Deadline for receipt of entries: November 1st, 2019. Notifications to artists: November 15th, 2019. Artwork due by: December 3rd, 2019. Opening reception: December 14th, 2019. Final day of exhibition: January 31st, 2020. Pick-up/return of work: March 1st, 2020.
