The Grandeur of Color (2023)

The MVA Gallery (Modern Visual Arts) invites artists, photographers, and sculptors of all levels to submit original artwork to this exhibition. This is a national open call with no restrictions on subject matter or style. The exhibition theme explores color and its influence on human perception, emotion, and behavior. Artists are invited to share their personal interpretations and visions, whether realistic or imaginary, representational or abstract.

Accepted mediums include painting, watercolor, printmaking, mixed media, digital, pastel, encaustic, sculpture, fiber, drawing, and photography. Submissions must include 3 to 9 JPEG images (minimum 1200 pixels on the longest side, under 5 MB). Entry fee is $35.00 for 3 images, with additional images at $5.00 each. Artwork must be professionally finished and ready for installation with stretched wire attached to the back. Maximum dimensions are 48 inches (framed) on the longest side and 45 lbs for paintings; sculptures should not exceed 24 inches on any dimension. Photographs should be framed in black or white frames if presented traditionally.

Notification of acceptance will be sent by August 14, 2023. Accepted artwork must arrive at the gallery by September 15, 2023. The exhibition runs September 20 through October 18, 2023. An "Art of Distinction" Award will be granted to one artist, who will be featured in a special exhibit. Additionally, one artist accepted and displayed in an MVA Gallery exhibit during the calendar year will be selected for an exhibition opportunity in New York City, with notification in December. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs and insurance. For sales, the gallery retains 30% commission and the artist receives 70% of the final sale price. All artwork must remain in the gallery for the full duration of the exhibition.
