The Grandeur of Color 2022

The MVA Gallery (Modern Visual Arts) invites artists and photographers of all levels to submit original 2D artwork to this exhibition. This is a national open call with no restrictions on subject matter or style. The exhibition theme explores color and its influence on human perception, emotion, and behavior. Artists are invited to share personal interpretations and visions, whether realistic or imaginary, representational or abstract.

Accepted mediums include painting, watercolor, printmaking, mixed media, digital, pastel, encaustic, fiber, drawing, and photography. Only 2D artwork will be included. All artwork must be professionally finished and ready for secure installation, equipped with stretched wire attached to the back. Pieces should not exceed 48 inches (framed) on the longest side or weigh more than 45 lbs. Photographs should be framed if presented traditionally, preferably in black or white frames with white or off-white mats only.

Entry fee is $35.00 for 3 images, with additional images available for $5.00 each up to 9 maximum. All images must be submitted as JPEG files under 5 MB with a minimum of 1200 pixels on the longest side. Entry deadline is August 31, 2022. Notification to artists will be sent by September 4, 2022. Accepted artwork must arrive at the gallery by September 28, 2022. The exhibition runs October 5-30, 2022. Awards include First Prize $450, Second Prize $250, and Third Prize $100. One artist will be selected from all accepted artists during the calendar year for an exhibition opportunity in New York City. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs and insurance. A prepaid return shipping label must be enclosed with artwork. The gallery retains 30% commission on sales, with 70% going to the artist.
