The Grandeur of Color

The MVA Gallery (Modern Visual Arts) invites artists and photographers of all levels to submit original 2D artwork to "The Grandeur of Color" exhibition. This is a national open call with no restrictions on subject matter or style. The exhibition explores how artists use color—whether intellectually or intuitively, purposefully or accidentally, traditionally or experimentally—to interpret and reconstruct reality. Submissions may be realistic or imaginary, representational or abstract. Accepted mediums include painting, watercolor, printmaking, mixed media, digital, drawing, and photography.

Entry fee is $30.00 for 3 images, with additional images available for $5.00 each up to a maximum of 9 images. All images must be JPG format, under 5 MB, with a minimum of 1200 pixels on the longest side. Artists must be 18 years or older and reside in the United States. Only 2D artwork will be accepted; no reproductions or derivatives of copyrighted images are permitted. All artwork must be professionally finished and ready for installation. Framed pieces must be equipped with stretched wire; sawtooth hangers and unframed work will not be accepted. Pieces should not exceed 44 inches (framed) on the longest side or weigh more than 40 lbs. Photographs must be framed and matted in white or off-white only, with black or white frames preferred.

Artists are responsible for all shipping costs and insurance. Artwork must arrive by July 31, 2021. Artists must provide a prepaid return shipping label from UPS or FedEx enclosed with their artwork. Notification of acceptance will be sent by July 21, 2021. The exhibition runs August 5-27, 2021. Awards include First Prize ($400), Second Prize ($200), and Third Prize ($100). One artist will be selected from all accepted artists during the calendar year for an exhibition opportunity in New York City. For sales, artists receive 70% of the final sale price and the gallery receives 30%.
