The Golden Hour

"The Golden Hour" is a juried visual art exhibition featuring artworks about specific times of day where the light is just right: the Golden Hour, as well as dawn and dusk. The Golden Hour is that perfect time of day when the light is just right, typically right after sunrise and before sunset when the color of the light as it reflects on buildings, the sidewalk, and other things is pink, red, yellow, and golden. However, there are other times of the day when that perfect color of light can be captured and depicted in artwork. This is an all media exhibit where this specific color of light and these times of day can be recreated and interpreted in all artistic forms, media and interpretations, from photography, painting, embroidery, and ceramics to video, metalsmithing, drawing, and any other media. All explorations and interpretations of this theme are invited. Artworks in all media, techniques and styles are encouraged.

Open to artists 21 years of age and older living in the St. Louis, Missouri region and surrounding 200-mile radius. Limit 3 original artworks in all media, styles, themes, and techniques that respond to the theme. Artwork must be completed between 2014-2017. Works not exhibited in any juried exhibit in St. Louis region during 6 months prior to exhibit dates, and not previously exhibited in any exhibit at Art Saint Louis Gallery. Entry deadline: July 3, 2017 (11:59 MST). Entry fee: $35.00 for non-members, $20.00 for ASL members.

Awards of Excellence will be selected by the Jurors and include one $250 Best of Show Award of Excellence and four non-cash Awards of Excellence. All five Award recipients will be eligible for the "Honor Awards 2018" ten-artist curated exhibit presented at Art Saint Louis, June 16-July 19, 2018. Exhibition dates: September 16-October 26, 2017 at Art Saint Louis Gallery, 1223 Pine Street in downtown St. Louis, MO. Free reception on Saturday, September 16, 6-8 p.m. Jurors: Olivia Lahs-Gonzales, Director of The Sheldon Art Galleries, and Larry Torno, photographic artist.
