About This Call
The Gold Standard of Fiber and Textile Art is a juried exhibition of works created by members of the Textile Study Group of New York (TSGNY). This exhibition celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Westbeth Artists Community and highlights the diversity of style and techniques in fiber art. Both two- and three-dimensional work will be considered, with approximately seventy works chosen anonymously from among the entries. The juror is Lauren Whitley, senior curator in the David and Roberta Logie Department of Textile and Fashion Arts at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
Eligibility: All 2019-2020 full members of TSGNY are eligible to enter. Newsletter members must upgrade to full membership. Each member may submit up to three original works completed within the last five years (after January 1, 2015). Artists must be 18 years of age or older. All work must include fiber in content or be executed with at least one fiber technique. Eligible categories include wall/floor works (quilts, tapestries, weavings, carpets), sculptural works, vessel forms/basketry, and wearables. Entry fee is $40 (non-refundable). Wall piece maximum dimensions: 80" width / 90" height / 10" depth. Work must be of professional standard and ready to hang.
Submission Requirements: Submit one overall digital image and one detail digital image for each artwork as JPEG or JPG files, at least 270 dpi, 1200 pixels on the longest side, and under 5MB. Submission deadline: November 24, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Acceptance notification: December 20, 2019. Artwork delivery: January 28-29, 2020. Exhibition dates: February 5-23, 2020 at the Westbeth Art Gallery, 55 Bethune Street, New York, NY 10014. Gallery hours: Wednesday-Sunday, 1-6pm. Public reception: Wednesday, February 5, 2020. Shipping, delivery, and insurance charges are the artist's responsibility. Artwork should be priced to include a 35% commission. For questions, contact [email protected].
