About This Call
The Ghosts that Linger is an annual themed juried exhibition exploring the emotional weight carried by material objects that surround us. The exhibition highlights artists who engage with themes of nostalgia, memory, and identity, transforming everyday materials into something uncanny, poetic, or personal. Each piece asks: What do the things we keep or abandon say about who we are?
Juried by Shaina Kasztelan, a multidisciplinary artist based in Detroit, Michigan. Kasztelan operates between painting, sculpture, collage, and installation, creating psychedelic dreamscapes using kitsch commodities. She received a BFA from the College for Creative Studies in 2012 and an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art in 2024. Her work has been exhibited at The Detroit Institute of Arts, the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit, and the University of Michigan Institute for the Humanities.
Entry deadline: August 31, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. ET. Entry fee is $35 ($15 reduced fee for students and artists economically challenged). Submit up to two pieces with 1-2 images per entry in JPEG format. Size limits: 2D work maximum 72" high x 55" wide; 3D work must fit through standard doorway and weigh no more than 50 lbs.
