About This Call
The Garden Variety is a photography competition benefiting Waterfront Botanical Gardens, presented as part of the 2017 Louisville Photo Biennial. First Light Gallery invites all photographers—amateur and professional—to submit images of the natural world, whether vast landscapes or intimate details. All styles of photography are accepted.
Submit 3-20 images as jpegs via the Café website at www.callforentry.org. Entry fee is $25.00, with an additional $5.00 media fee for extra images. Images must focus on the natural world. Recent work is encouraged but not mandatory. Photographers agree to give the gallery printing rights to submitted images for the duration of the exhibit.
Accepted entries will be printed as 5x7s and showcased in the 2017 Louisville Photo Biennial. Cash prizes will be awarded for First, Second, and Third place, announced at the Opening Reception on Friday, October 6, 4pm-9pm. All entries receive exposure through media outlets and an online gallery. Photographers receive a 5x7 print of their image at the end of the exhibition. 60% of all sales and 5% of all entry fees benefit Waterfront Botanical Gardens. Jurors include the Gallery Director and Staff Members of Waterfront Botanical Gardens.
