About This Call
"The Gap Between Art and Life" is an inaugural competitive, southeastern regional exhibition organized by the Webber Gallery of the College of Central Florida. Open to all forms of installation art, the exhibition will present a display of multiple installation works by selected artists. The exhibition will be on view from August 7 to September 7, 2023, with a show reception on August 25.
Eligibility is open to Southeast American artists residing in AL, AR, FL, GA, LA, MS, NC, SC, or TN who are 18 years or older. Work must have been completed within the last four years. Original works in any media that require installation into a gallery space are eligible. The entry fee is $20 per entry, with up to five works per entry. Submissions must include 1-20 images (JPEG format, minimum 1200 pixels on longer side, 72 dpi, 5 MB maximum), 0-5 videos, and a PDF file with visual aids for installation. Artists must provide an artist statement, installation details (audio volume, brightness, hardware), and artist biography upon acceptance. Works cannot contain toxic, flammable, or inherently dangerous materials and must not endanger gallery visitors. All cords must be properly grounded with GFCI plugs.
The jury panel includes Dr. Leslie Hammond, president of Artistic Eye Fine Art Services and fine arts consultant, and Victoria Billig, Assistant Director of Museum Operations at the Appleton Museum of Art. Accepted artists will receive a stipend for travel to the gallery for in-person installation (July 26-August 2, 2023) or for artwork shipment. Shipped artwork must arrive by July 20, 2023 via UPS or FedEx with a return shipping label. A 10% commission will be charged on all sales. High-resolution image files (minimum 300 DPI, JPEG format) and signed loan agreements are due July 6, 2023. Notifications will be emailed June 22, 2023. Contact [email protected] for questions about installation possibilities.
