THE FOUR SEASONS

The MVA Gallery (Modern Visual Arts) invites artists, photographers, and sculptors of all levels to submit original artwork to this national exhibition. The exhibition explores multiple layers of expression through seasonal themes and techniques.

Artists may submit work depicting the external splendor of nature in landscapes and seascapes, showing the earth's exterior life during various seasons, including dynamic changes of animal and plant life and rhythmic fluctuations of the earth's surface. Images can also portray popular activities associated with seasons such as swimming, skiing, picnicking, biking, and gardening, or show individuals struggling in inclement weather. Certain moods and feelings are perceived as dominant during specific seasons: Spring with hope and renewal; Summer with joy and freedom; Autumn with melancholy and acceptance; Winter with isolation and sadness. Artists may interpret these themes realistically or metaphorically, capturing one particular season or a range of seasons. Any style or technique is acceptable: representational, abstract, impressionist, cubist, surrealist, expressionist, or personal synthesis. Accepted mediums include painting, watercolor, printmaking, mixed media, digital, pastel, encaustic, ink, sculpture, fiber, drawing, and photography.

Entry fee is $35.00 for 3 images, with additional images at $5.00 each up to 9 maximum. Submissions are through CAFE (CallForEntry). All images must be JPEG format, under 5 MB with a minimum of 1200 pixels on the longest side. Artists must provide title, medium, size, price, and year of completion. Artwork must be professionally finished and ready for installation with stretched wire attached to the back. Maximum dimensions are 48 inches (framed) on the longest side and 45 lbs for paintings; 24 inches on any dimension for sculpture. Photographs should be framed in black or white frames with white or off-white mats. Notification of acceptance will be sent by email on or about November 25, 2024. Accepted artwork must arrive by January 17, 2025. Exhibition dates are January 23 through February 23, 2025. Awards include an Art of Distinction Award, an Annual Grand Prize offering a New York City exhibition opportunity, and a Director's Choice Award of $200. Artists are responsible for all shipping and insurance costs both to and from the gallery and must provide prepaid return shipping labels.
