About This Call
The MVA Gallery (Modern Visual Arts) invites artists, photographers, printmakers, and sculptors of all levels to submit original artwork to this exhibition. This national call explores seasonal change as a powerful and transformative theme, offering artists the opportunity to explore multiple creative layers of expression.
Artists may depict the external splendor of nature in landscapes and seascapes, revealing the earth's life during various seasons, including dynamic changes of human, animal, and plant life. Images can also portray activities associated with seasons such as swimming, skiing, picnicking, or gardening, or show individuals confronting inclement weather. Artists may also explore the psychological resonances of seasons: Spring associated with hope and renewal; Summer with joy and freedom; Autumn with melancholy and acceptance; Winter with isolation and sadness. All visual ideas can be developed realistically or metaphorically, capturing one season or a range of seasons. Any style or technique is acceptable: representational, abstract, impressionist, cubist, surrealist, expressionist, or personal synthesis. Accepted mediums include painting, watercolor, printmaking, mixed media, digital, pastel, encaustic, ink, sculpture, fiber, drawing, and photography.
Entry fee is $35.00 for 3 images, with additional images at $5.00 each up to 9 maximum. Submit 3-9 JPEG images (under 5 MB, minimum 1200 pixels on longest side) through CAFE with title, medium, size, price, and year of completion. Artwork must be professionally finished and ready for installation with stretched wire attached to the back. Maximum dimensions: 48 inches (framed) on longest side, not exceeding 45 lbs; sculpture not larger than 28 inches on any dimension. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs and insurance both to and from the gallery. Accepted artwork must arrive by January 12, 2026. Exhibition dates: January 15 - February 14, 2026. Notification of acceptance or non-acceptance will be sent by email on or about December 9, 2025. Awards include an "Art of Distinction" Award featuring a special exhibition, an Annual Grand Prize offering a New York City exhibition opportunity, and an optional Director's Choice Award of $200.
