The Four Elements -- Earth, Air, Fire, Water

The MVA Gallery (Modern Visual Arts) invites artists, photographers, and sculptors of all levels to submit original artwork exploring the theme of the Four Elements -- Earth, Air, Fire, Water. From ancient cultures to modern societies, these elements have provided explanations about the material world, forces of energy, and attributes of human nature. Artists are encouraged to explore this theme on practical, symbolic, spiritual, psychological, or aesthetic levels. Any style and subject matter is welcome, whether lyrical or bold, colorful or muted, representational or abstract.

Accepted mediums include painting, watercolor, printmaking, mixed media, digital, pastel, encaustic, sculpture, fiber, drawing, and photography. Entry fee is $35.00 for 3 images, with additional images available for $5.00 each up to 9 maximum. Submit 3-9 JPEG images (under 5 MB, minimum 1200 pixels on longest side) with title, medium, size, price, and year of completion. All artwork must be professionally finished and ready for secure installation with stretched wire attached to the back. Artwork should not exceed 48 inches (framed) on the longest side or weigh more than 45 lbs; sculpture should not exceed 24 inches on any dimension. Photographs should be framed in black or white frames with white or off-white mats only.

Notification of acceptance will be sent by email on or about February 15, 2024. Accepted artwork must arrive at the gallery by March 12, 2024. The exhibition runs March 16 - April 14, 2024. An "Art of Distinction" Award will be granted to one artist for a special future exhibition. One artist accepted and displayed in an MVA Gallery exhibit during the calendar year will be selected for an annual Grand Prize exhibition opportunity in New York City. Artists retain all rights to their work and receive 70% of sales; the gallery retains 30%. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs and insurance both to and from the gallery and must provide prepaid return shipping labels.
