About This Call
The MVA Gallery (Modern Visual Arts) invites artists, photographers, and sculptors of all levels to submit original artwork to this exhibition. The theme explores The Four Elements -- Earth, Air, Fire, Water -- and their influence on science, philosophy, religion, and medicine. Artists are encouraged to explore these themes on practical, symbolic, spiritual, psychological, or aesthetic levels. Subject matter can include Earth (landscapes, gardens, animals, cityscapes), Air (sky, sunsets, rainbows, birds, hot air balloons), Fire (burning forests, buildings, bonfires, fireplaces), and Water (rivers, oceans, storms, swimming, baptisms, waterfalls). Any style and subject matter is welcome. Accepted mediums include painting, watercolor, printmaking, mixed media, digital, pastel, encaustic, sculpture, fiber, drawing, and photography.
Submission is exclusively through CAFE (CallForEntry) at https://www.callforentry.org. Entry fee is $35.00 for 3 images, with additional images available for $5.00 each up to a maximum of 9 images. All images must be JPEG format, under 5 MB, with a minimum of 1200 pixels on the longest side. Artists must provide title, medium, size, price, and year of completion for each work. Artwork specifications include: maximum 48 inches (framed) on the longest side and not exceeding 45 lbs; sculpture not larger than 24 inches on any dimension; all artwork must be equipped with stretched wire for hanging; plexiglass is preferred over glass for shipped work; photographs should be framed in black or white frames when using traditional presentation.
Entry deadline is March 6, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Artists will be notified by email on or about March 8, 2025. Accepted artwork must arrive at the gallery no later than April 8, 2025. The exhibition runs April 10 through May 10, 2025. Awards include an "Art of Distinction" Award featuring a special exhibition, an Annual Grand Prize offering a New York City exhibition opportunity, and a Director's Choice Award of $200. For sales, the gallery takes a 30% commission with 70% going to the artist. Artists are responsible for all shipping and insurance costs both to and from the gallery and must provide prepaid return shipping labels.
