About This Call

The City of Loveland Art in Public Places is accepting Requests for Qualifications for sculptural works to be installed in the parking garage at Lincoln Avenue (Highway 287 North) as part of The Foundry downtown redevelopment project. The Lincoln Avenue side of the parking garage is highly visible facing Highway 287, the main highway through downtown Loveland. The art installation will be supported upon a concrete wall measuring 30' x 54' and can accommodate two and three-dimensional artwork (three-dimensional work will be limited near the ground due to encroachments).

Artists should develop artwork that provides immediate visual impact, is fabricated from suitable outdoor material, allows for ample air circulation within the parking structure, and enhances the overall aesthetics of The Foundry development. A maximum of $50,000 has been allocated for this project, including all design, structural engineering, fabrication, insurance, installation, travel, contingency and incidental costs. The project is open to any professional artist or artist team with demonstrated experience creating signature artwork of large scale. Installation timeline will be determined collaboratively by the artist, City staff, and the developer.

Applications must include a preliminary statement of approach, 5-10 images of artwork completed within the past seven years highlighting previous accomplishments with public art pieces of similar scale, and 3 professional references. An artwork selection panel comprising City of Loveland Visual Arts Commission members, Loveland residents, and representatives from Brinkman Partners and the Downtown Development Authority will review submissions. Selected finalists will present a scaled maquette and develop a specific preliminary proposal, for which a stipend will be paid. One artist will be selected to develop their design, fabricate, and install the artwork. The selected artist/artist team will enter into a contract with the City of Loveland and will be required to carry general liability insurance of $1 million.
