About This Call
The Family Portrait is a ceramic exhibition guest curated by Kukuli Velarde, running September 1 – October 15, 2022. Artists are invited to submit ceramic works that explore the meaning and definition of the family unit as image, as a system, as historical reference, or metaphor for contemporary culture and society. Works may be functional or non-functional and can address what family means to the artist, whether as social commentary, exploration of self-identity, or in the broadest context beyond traditional definitions.
Clay Art Center especially encourages artists of Latina/o/x and Hispanic origin to submit. According to 2019 American Community Survey data, the Hispanic community comprises 64.8% of the Port Chester population. The center aims to highlight participating Latina/o/x and Hispanic artists as part of celebrating Hispanic Heritage month.
Applications are accepted online only at www.callforentry.org. The entry deadline is May 27, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. The application fee is $25. Artists may submit no more than 3 ceramic artworks. Submissions must include an artist statement (up to 1000 characters), and each work must include title, medium, dimensions, price/value, year completed, and description (300 character limit). Images must be JPEGs up to 5MB with a minimum of 1920 pixels on the longest side.
