The Episode Where a Gallery Exhibits Anime Art

The Trolley Barn Gallery is calling artists from all over the globe to celebrate anime, manga, and comic books through a vibrant exhibition of art inspired by Japanese anime and manga. Artists are invited to embrace "main character energy" and show what their anime universe would look like. The gallery is accepting art in every medium including short animated films, comic strips, comic books, sketchbooks, original concept art, tattoo designs, digital art, illustrations, and other 2D or 3D work. NSFW content is not accepted—no gore or sexual content. Art of all ages is welcome.

This international juried exhibition will be held February 23 through March 22, 2024 at The Art Effect's Trolley Barn Gallery, 489 Main St, Poughkeepsie, New York, with an Opening Reception Friday, February 23, 6-8 pm. The exhibition will include a series of side quest events: a cosplay contest, an anime movie night, and a "How to Draw Comics" workshop. Artwork selected for the exhibition will be shown in the Trolley Barn Gallery as well as in a virtual online exhibition.

Entry fee is $10.00 plus a $5.00 media fee. Artists must submit 3-15 images and/or 0-3 videos. Artwork must be exhibition ready upon arrival with appropriate hanging mechanisms or installation instructions. Maximum recommended size is 7 feet in any direction; 2D artwork should not exceed 65 pounds. Artists will be notified within approximately 2-3 weeks after the deadline. Exhibiting artists may specify a retail price for work or mark it "Not for Sale." The Art Effect takes a 20% commission for members and current students, and 30% for non-members. Artists are responsible for transportation and must provide pre-paid return shipping labels. Exhibitions at the Trolley Barn are free and open to the public.
