About This Call

The Eclectic: A National Open Media Exhibition celebrates professional quality, original artworks in a variety of media and aesthetics. Open to all artists 18 or older living in the United States, this exhibition is held at the d'Art Center in Norfolk, Virginia. The d'Art Center is a thirty-year-old art center that includes working professional artist studios and a wide variety of exhibitions and programming open to the public. The exhibition will be housed in d'Art's main exhibition space, the Harbor Group International Gallery, located in the NEON District of Norfolk.

Works can be in any media, including painting, printmaking, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, fiber, collage, metal, jewelry, photography, or mixed media. All styles and aesthetics are considered. All work must be original and created without the aid of an instructor or kit. Content should be appropriate for all viewers. Works cannot exceed 48 inches in the longest direction or weigh more than 30 pounds. Two-dimensional works must be equipped with hanging wire for installation. Works requiring special display or installation must include necessary mechanisms and clear instructions.

Entry fee is $40.00. Submissions must include 1-4 total work samples (images, audio, or video). Exhibition dates are July 12-August 14, 2016, with a reception on Thursday, July 21, 6:00-8:00pm. Notifications will be sent Friday, June 17, 2016. Accepted works must arrive by Tuesday, July 5, 2016. The juror is Leigh Anne Chambers, a painter and mixed media artist who is Executive Director of Rawls Museum Arts. Awards are allocated at $100.00 for every twenty artist entries, with amounts and decisions announced at the reception. Commission for accepted and displayed works is 60% (artist) / 40% (d'Art Center), not including awards. Artists are responsible for shipping costs to and from the gallery and must arrange pre-paid call tags through UPS or FedEx.
