The Decatur Artway VII

The Decatur Arts Alliance seeks sculptures to be placed in the city of Decatur, Georgia as part of the Decatur Artway, a two-year sculpture exhibition. The Decatur Arts Alliance will partner with the Decatur Tourism Bureau and the Downtown Development Authority to market the Decatur Artway through printed walking/cycling/driving sculpture tours, an online tour with a mobile app, and docent-led tours for visitors and residents. The Decatur Artway opening will include an artist talk which will be videotaped and used on the mobile app and website.

Selected artists will be awarded an honorarium of $2,000. The installed work may be available for sale. Artwork sold as a result of the Decatur Artway will be subject to a 20% commission, which will be deducted from the purchase price and retained by the Decatur Arts Alliance. The sculpture must be available for the duration of the two-year contract. All submissions must be professionally constructed of durable materials which will withstand the elements. No maquettes or renderings will be considered for selection; only existing and ready to install works are accepted. All durable outdoor media are encouraged. Work installation dates will be mid to late October but are subject to change due to pandemic restrictions and artist limitations. The lease will extend from October 2021 to October 2023.

Entry fee is $25.00, with an additional $5.00 media fee for additional entries. Submissions must include 3-20 images. National eligibility. If the submitted work has been selected and confirmed for another exhibition before August 1, 2021, contact Angie Macon at the Decatur Arts Alliance.
