The Decatur Artway

The Decatur Arts Alliance seeks sculptures to be placed in Downtown Decatur, Georgia as part of the Decatur Artway, a two-year sculpture exhibition. The Decatur Arts Alliance will partner with the Decatur Tourism Bureau and the Decatur Downtown Development Authority to market the Decatur Artway through printed walking/cycling/driving sculpture tours, an online tour with mobile app, and docent-led tours for visitors and residents. The Decatur Artway opening will include an artist talk which will be videotaped and used on the mobile app and website.

Selected artists will be awarded an honorarium of $2,000. The installed work may be available for sale. Artwork sold as a result of the Decatur Artway will be subject to a 20% commission, which will be deducted from the purchase price and retained by the Decatur Arts Alliance. The sculpture must be available for the duration of the two-year contract. All submissions must be professionally constructed of durable materials which will withstand the elements. All durable outdoor media are encouraged. Artwork deemed unsuitable for public display will not be accepted. Only completed, ready to loan work will be accepted; project concepts or maquettes will not be considered.

The City of Decatur is responsible for all costs for materials and workmanship during installation, including final site preparation, plinth, cleanup, and repair of any damage caused during installation. The Decatur Arts Alliance will insure the artwork for the duration of the exhibition. Selected artists are responsible for transportation to and from the installation site. The artwork must be delivered exhibit-ready, stable, and well-fabricated. Submissions must include three images per sculpture clearly showing front, back, and one detail shot. All dimensions and a stated insurance value must be provided for each submission, along with a brief description of the work's installation method. Entry fee: $20.00, plus $5.00 media fee for each image over 3 images. Minimum 3 images, maximum 72 images per submission.
