About This Call
The Curated Fridge Winter 2026 call is now open! The show will be curated by Disparate Projects and will be presented in Behind VA Shadows, an alternative space located in Harvard Sq, Cambridge, MA. TCF will be traveling from the kitchen to the window front gallery hosted by BVAS from January 23th, 2026 to April 2nd, 2026.
Behind VA Shadows is an artists-run DIY public art project founded in December 2021 by a group of Visitor Assistants at the ICA/Boston. BVAS initiative aims to break down barriers between art and the public, showcasing the creative work of museum workers while extending accessibility beyond institutional walls. By holding the alternative space for the public to engage with the creative identity of museum workers, BVAS advocates for communal care to counter the issues of burnout within art museums and institutions.

The Curated Fridge Winter 2026 call
Deadline: January 4, 2026 (postmarked mail)
Fees: Free!
Theme: Instant Permanence
Our world exists both in the physical plane and within the cloud. It’s easy to forget how fragile that balance is and how our lives, memories, and images are bound to invisible servers and data farms. Cloud storage and social feeds may feel like lasting personal archives, but their permanence can be an illusion. They can vanish with a glitch, a policy change, or the death of a platform.
The instant photograph, by contrast, resists this impermanence. Its creation is an act of rebellion against the fleeting and the digital. Each print is immediate, tangible, and singular; a moment recorded, etched in light through chemistry and touch. Emerging from the camera with physical weight, the instant photograph becomes an artifact of presence and time.
Instant Permanence is a call for photographic works that honor the spirit of images that embrace the honesty, immediacy, and material truth of the instant photograph. Show us work that rings true of an image created instantly from your camera, not your cloud. Submit your instant photographs and be part of a visual conversation that demands to be seen, felt, and remembered.
Clarification: You can make your instant photos any way you like to for however you fell it relates to the call. You can submit your original, instant photos or make digital prints of them and send them over.
