About This Call
The Crow Show 2022 is the eighth annual national exhibition of visual arts running from March 3-31, 2022, produced by The Studio Door. This exhibition celebrates the crow in reality and fantasy, accepting creative interpretations of all black birds, ravens, and other Corvus species. The show seeks to represent the many faces of the crow as it has taken on mythological importance across cultures and become a muse to many contemporary artists.
The exhibition will be displayed both at The Studio Door gallery in San Diego and in an online gallery, allowing more works to be seen beyond the physical gallery limitations. Artists may declare preference for "in gallery," "online gallery," or both during application. All accepted works are eligible for Best in Show awards. The juror is Wes Siegrist, Executive Director of the Society of Animal Artists. Three artists will receive a Juror's Award certificate and $100 check for artworks expressing the most imaginative interpretation of the theme. All selected artwork will be included in a national exhibition catalog.
Entry fee is $35 for one artwork, $40 for two, or $45 for three. Submission deadline is February 1, 2022 at 10:59 PM PST through CAFÉ. Artists will be notified by February 5, 2022. Shipped artwork must arrive by February 25, 2022, or hand-delivered on February 26, 2022 (Noon-7 PM). Unsold artwork will be shipped out April 2, 2022. For sales, 60% goes to the artist and 40% to The Studio Door. A public reception is planned for Saturday, March 19, 2022 from 6-9 PM. 2-D artwork must arrive gallery ready and professionally presented, preferably in black or natural wood frames with no glass (plexi only). 3-D work must fit through an average doorway and not exceed 8 feet in height.
