About This Call
The Crow Show 2022 is the seventh national annual exhibition of visual arts produced by The Studio Door, running April 3-24, 2022. This exhibition seeks to represent the many faces of the Crow in reality and fantasy through creative interpretations of all black birds, ravens, and other Corvus species.
Accepted categories include fine art: painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, assemblage, collage, mixed media, fiber art, artist book, ceramics, stoneware, stained glass, and sculpture. Oversized jewelry that can be defined as fine art is acceptable. Video, film, installation, and works requiring external electrical source require gallery approval. Submissions must be original work and all artwork must be available for sale. Entry fee is $35 for one work, $40 for two works, or $45 for three works. Submission deadline is March 1, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. MST through CAFÉ.
The juror is Andrew Utt, Executive Director of Lux Art Institute in Encinitas, California. Three artists will receive a Juror's Award certificate and $100 check for artworks expressing the most imaginative interpretation of the theme. Selected works will be exhibited at The Studio Door gallery in San Diego and/or in an online gallery. All accepted works are eligible for Best in Show and will be included in the national exhibition virtual catalog. Artists will be notified by March 6, 2022. Artwork must arrive gallery-ready and professionally presented. 2-D work maximum size is 8 feet height by 4 feet width including frame. 3-D work must fit through an average doorway and not exceed 8 feet in height. Shipped artwork must be received by March 26, 2022. Artists receive 60% of sales with The Studio Door receiving 40%. Items sold must remain on exhibit for the duration of the show.
