About This Call
The Crow Show 2017 is an exhibition of visual art running from February 3–26, 2017, produced by The Studio Door. This is the third annual exhibition exploring the crow's representation in reality and fantasy across art forms. The exhibition seeks to represent the many faces of the crow and invites artists to show what the crow means to them.
Accepted categories include painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, assemblage, collage, mixed media, fiber art, artist books, ceramics, stoneware, stained glass, and sculpture. Oversized jewelry defined as fine art is acceptable. The exhibition does not accept small jewelry, video, film, performance art, installation, or works requiring external electrical sources. Two-dimensional work must not exceed 8 feet in height and 4 feet in width including frame. Three-dimensional work must fit through an average doorway and not exceed 8 feet in height. Submissions must be the artist's original work.
Entry consists of one to three image submissions. The entry fee is $35 for the initial entry and $5 for each additional work (1 work = $35; 2 works = $40; 3 works = $45). The submission deadline is January 6, 2017 at 10:59 PM PST. Artists will be notified by January 13, 2017. The juror will select works for display at The Studio Door gallery in San Diego and for an online gallery. All accepted works are eligible for Best in Show, with one work designated as the cover of the exhibition catalog. Artists grant The Studio Door permission to photograph selected artwork and use images for marketing and publicity without compensation. For gallery exhibition, artwork must arrive gallery-ready and professionally presented, preferably in black or natural wood frames with plexi (not glass). Shipped artwork must be received by February 27, 2017. Hand-delivery is available January 28–29, 2017. Artwork may be picked up February 26, 2017 (4–5 PM) or February 28, 2017 (noon–7 PM). Sales split 60% to artist, 40% to The Studio Door, with payment mailed within 30 days after the show closes. Items sold must remain on exhibit for the duration of the show.
