About This Call
Roswell Arts Fund and the City of Roswell, Georgia invite artists and teams to submit portfolios for consideration for a temporary public art festival. Beginning June 2023, a stretch of greenspace, trail, and road between Roswell Underpass Park and Riverside Park will be transformed into a visual and performing arts celebration. The project aims to elevate and feature one of Roswell's corridors—spaces that connect the community's natural, historic, and cultural assets.
The type of work displayed may be installation, sculptural, interactive, performative, or anything suitable for public exhibition. Work may be new or previously existing and rented for the exhibition. Artists should consider materials and concepts including wrought iron, cast iron, wood, light, stone, architectural accents, history, roughhewn surfaces, exposed hardware, post and beam construction, family, organic elements, treescape, the river, green parkland, and blacksmithing. This invitation is extended to all qualified artists with no entry fee. Local and regional participating artists will be given priority in the selection process.
Applications must include: artist/team information, artist statement (500 words max), up to five artworks/performances with details (title, materials, dimensions or runtime), résumé/CV (two-page maximum), and completion of a demographic survey. Each artist may submit a maximum of five artworks/performances for consideration. Work samples should include 3-5 total items (images, audio, and/or video). All artwork must be appropriate for all ages; no work depicting violence, adult themes, drug use, or controversial subject matter will be considered. Artists are not required to have public art experience but it is highly encouraged. Submissions will be evaluated on artistic merit and feasibility. Top applicants will be notified the week of February 13, 2023, with contracts executed the week of February 20. Sketches are due March 6, fabrication and installation occur March through May, the opening is June 15, the exhibition runs June-September, and deinstallation is October 1.
