About This Call
PrintAustin announces the open call for its 11th annual juried international exhibition, The Contemporary Print. Presented in collaboration with ICOSA, this year's exhibition will be juried by Mark Pascale, the Janet and Craig Duchossois Curator in the Department of Prints and Drawings at The Art Institute of Chicago and Senior Lecturer in Print Media at the School of the Art Institute.
The Contemporary Print is a survey of traditional printmaking techniques and innovative approaches in contemporary printmaking. While non-traditional or digital output is accepted as a print element, submissions must utilize traditional print media as their primary technique. These include lithography, relief, intaglio, silkscreen, photopolymer plate (SolarPlates), and monotype. Solely digital and photographic prints are not eligible. For questions regarding eligible media, contact [email protected].
Eligibility: Open to local, national, and international artists 18 years or older. Any 2-D or 3-D work including ceramics, sculpture, mixed media, and artist books that uses printmaking as the sole or primary technique are eligible. Unless an installation, work cannot exceed 72 inches in any direction. Works that have exhibited in past The Contemporary Print exhibitions are not eligible. Entry fee: $35 for non-members (includes 3 submissions); $10 for PrintAustin members (includes 3 submissions). Each additional submission: $10. Limited comped entries available—contact [email protected]. Submit 3-10 images (JPEG format, maximum quality) and up to 3 video files. Exhibition dates: January 19 - February 17, 2024 at ICOSA, 916 Springdale Road, Building 2, #102, Austin, Texas 78702. Jury notifications sent by November 1, 2024. Selected artists receive a shipping stipend (minimum $50); artists are responsible for return shipping with prepaid label. For accepted work, artists receive 70% commission on sales; PrintAustin retains 30%.
