The Contemporary Print

PrintAustin invites artists to enter the second annual juried national exhibition "The Contemporary Print" to be held at Big Medium Gallery at Canopy during PrintAustin 2015. PrintAustin is a month-long celebration of original prints, the artists who create them, and the people who collect them, featuring exhibitions, lectures, workshops, and special events at museums, galleries, non-profit organizations, and alternative spaces.

"The Contemporary Print" exhibition will survey the traditions and innovations of contemporary printmaking. While non-traditional or digital output is accepted as a print element, submissions must utilize traditional print media as their primary technique including lithography, relief, intaglio, silkscreen, and monotype. The exhibition is open to artists 18 years and older residing in the United States. Eligible work includes any 2-D or 3-D work including ceramics, sculpture, mixed media, and artists' books that uses printmaking as the sole or major technique. Work cannot exceed 72 inches in any direction. No traditional or digital photography is accepted.

Entry fee is $35 for up to 3 entries; $10 for each additional entry. Payment via credit card using PayPal is preferred, or by check payable to PrintAustin mailed to Big Medium at Canopy, 916 Springdale Road, Bldg. 1, Suite 218, Austin, Texas 78702. Fees are non-refundable. Submissions must include 3-10 images as 300 dpi JPGs no larger than 2 MB each. Email notifications will be sent by December 16, 2014. Cash awards: 1st Prize $400, 2nd Prize $300, 3rd Prize $200. Jurors are Kathryn Polk and Kevin McNamee-Tweed. Exhibition dates: January 17 opening reception and awards, January 18 artist talks.
