About This Call
The Chautauqua National Juried Exhibition: Balance and Resilience is a national juried exhibition with a $35 entry fee. Artists may submit 1-3 images of their work.
Specifications: There are no size limitations, but artists submitting larger works must be prepared to aid in installation. All work must be suitable for presentation or framed. Wall pieces must have appropriate hardware for hanging. Plexiglas glazing only is permitted; the director will exclude work that does not conform to this standard. Work previously exhibited in Giles Gallery is not permitted. Any accepted work that differs significantly from the entered image may be disqualified. The gallery walls are carpet-covered ¾" plywood, which may affect transparent pieces. Work that does not adhere to guidelines or conform to the submitted image will not be exhibited. Based on aesthetics, scale, weight, and display format, the juror has final decision on suitability for exhibition.
Juror: Garry R. Bibbs, Professor of sculpture and printmaking at the University of Kentucky School of Arts and Visual Studies. Cash prizes will be awarded at the juror's discretion. As an academic gallery, Giles does not take commission on art sales; the director will connect interested parties. Important dates: Entry deadline 11/9/19. Drop-off of hand-delivered work 01/11/20 from 1:00-4:00 PM. Last date for receipt of accepted work 01/13/20. Exhibition opens 01/21/20. Reception 01/23/20 from 5:00-7:00 PM. Exhibition closes 02/14/20.
