About This Call

The Bureau of Queer Art is a social media and print magazine for contemporary Queer and Allied artists to explore representation, identity, and themes of outsiderness. The organization is seeking artists to feature in the upcoming PRIDE 2023 issue and coinciding exhibition.

Selected artists will receive either a feature (1-3 pages with write-up and pictorial of artwork) or a full article (3-6 pages with write-up, interview, and full pictorial spread) in the physical publication, plus a gratis copy of the issue. The PRIDE 2023 Issue will be available for sale on Amazon, Blurb, the organization's website, and gallery locations. Selected artists will also participate in The PRIDE group exhibition, a 3-month online exclusive exhibition listed on the organization's website and ARTSY sales platform. A virtual opening reception will feature a panel discussion moderated by The Bureau of Queer Art Director, with participating artists and viewers encouraged to post questions and comments. The exhibition provides exposure to an international audience through ARTSY, which receives 2.2 million unique visitors monthly from 130+ countries.

Accepted media includes painting, printmaking, sculpture, glass, fiber, functional, digital, photography, installation, mixed media, and new genres. Artists must submit 5-20 images. Entry fee is $45 for 5 images; additional images cost $5 each. All work selected must remain available for sale for the entirety of the exhibition. Gallery retains a 50% commission on all exhibition sales. Sales remittance to artists will be provided within 5-7 business days after payment is finalized. The call timeline includes an early consideration deadline of April 30, official close on June 18, artist notification on June 20, publication release and exhibition opening on July 1, and exhibition close on October 1. Art Gallery Studios, located in Colonia Juárez, Mexico City, is curated by Micheal Swank. For inquiries, contact [email protected].
