About This Call
The Brayer specializes in contemporary art by emerging and mid-career artists. This call for proposals is for shows from now until April 2016. Solo shows, small group shows, and installations are welcome. Artists should specify in their proposal if there is sound, video, performance, or special equipment handling elements. Artists interested in showing only 1 or 2 artworks may indicate this in their entry and will be considered for a larger group show.
Artists must be 18 years or older and working in the US. Artists of all mediums and genres are welcome. Submitted entries must not have been completed earlier than 2009. The Brayer is located in a newly renovated 2,000 square foot gallery space in Ventura, north of Los Angeles. The building measures 60' long and 30' wide, features open-beam ceilings, two skylights, six movable walls, and a continuous 60ft wall.
All work must be original, unsold, and the artist must own the sole copyright. Frames, mats, and wiring must be professional quality and in good condition. Two-dimensional works on paper must be framed and under Plexiglas. Hanging works may not exceed 45 pounds. Sculptures are limited to 48" height x 20" depth and may not exceed 50 lbs. including base (unless hand-delivered and disassembled). Art installations requiring hired installers will be billed a $250 charge. All work must be available for sale with a 20% gallery commission on sales during the exhibition and 30 days after. No work may be removed until the close of the exhibition. Entry fee is $25 for the first two entries, with additional entries at $5 each (maximum 12 entries). Image requirements: JPEG format, minimum 1920 pixels on longest side, 72 ppi/dpi resolution, 5 MB maximum file size. Submissions must be made online at www.callforentry.org.
