About This Call
The Boston Arts Festival is designed to launch Boston's arts season and showcase more than 70 juried artists and Boston's contemporary arts scene. The festival takes place on Saturday, September 8 and Sunday, September 9 at Christopher Columbus Park on Boston's waterfront, from 11am-6pm. Visual artists will exhibit and sell one-of-a-kind and limited edition works including paintings, sculpture, ceramics, pottery, jewelry, fiber art, fine glasswork, woodwork, mixed media, and photography.
Accepted artists will be notified on July 11, 2007. A festival jury will make final selections based on quality, variety of artistic disciplines, and appropriateness for the venue. Preference will be given to Boston artists and to artists with studios located in Boston. Preference will be given to artists who can exhibit on both days. Accepted artists must be in attendance.
Each artist will be assigned a covered 10'x10' space with a table and two chairs. Artists are responsible for transporting, installing, and displaying their work, as well as any additional display or equipment. The exhibition fee is $40.00 per day. Artists will retain all proceeds of sales and responsibility for collecting sales tax. The festival will provide security from set-up to strike. Artists exhibit and sell their work at their own risk; the Mayor's Office of Arts, Tourism & Special Events is not responsible for damage, theft, or loss of artwork.
Applications must include five digital images of relevant work, a resume (MS Word or PDF, limit 2 pages, 12pt., 1 inch margins), an artist's statement (not to exceed 4,000 characters), and an image list/description sheet (not to exceed 4,000 characters including size, media, and date created). All materials must be submitted through CaFE. Contact: (617) 635-3911.
