About This Call
The Decatur Arts Alliance presents the eighth edition of the juried exhibition of artists' books, The Book as Art, August 28–October 17, 2020, at the Decatur Branch of the DeKalb County Public Library. The exhibition will coincide with the AJC-Decatur Book Festival and the Guild of Book Workers Standards of Excellence Seminar. An opening and juror's talk will be held on August 28, 2020, with a closing reception on October 16.
Artists are invited to enter original or limited edition original or altered books. The exhibition seeks beautifully made volumes, sculptural and conceptual interpretations, one-of-a-kind approaches to the book format, and wall-hung interpretations. Entries are open April 8–May 29, 2020 through callforentry.org. Artists may submit up to three pieces for a $30 entry fee, with 1–5 images and up to 1 video per work. International artists are welcome to submit. Jurors are Bexx Caswell-Olson, Ann Kresge, and Joe Sanders.
Awards include First Place ($1,000), Second Place ($700), Third Place ($500), and Merit Award ($100). An online catalogue is anticipated. Sales are encouraged, with the DAA collecting a 25% commission on all artwork sold. Work will be insured for the duration of the exhibition. No work accepted may be withdrawn before the close of the exhibition, and artists cannot substitute accepted work or raise sales prices after acceptance. Contact: [email protected].
