About This Call
View Arts Center in Old Forge, NY seeks works of art in all media exploring the theme of the book as art. For more than five centuries, mass-produced books have connected us at an unprecedented scale through the power of shared ideas, inspiration, imagination, and information. The exhibition will feature works that repurpose, reference, and reimagine this ubiquitous form. Artists are welcome to submit in all media, from handmade books and conventional bookmaking to creative expressions inspired by books, their forms, and their cultural significance. This includes repurposing books, creating sculptural works, or other work inspired by their form, stories, or characters. Artists may submit up to 3 pieces.
All media are accepted. All work must be able to be moved and placed by one person. All entries must be of original design and personal execution created within the past 3 years. Artwork previously shown at View is not eligible. View is a public non-profit art center open to everyone; content of submissions should be appropriate for all visitors.
Entry fee is $35 for one work. Each additional work costs $10 (maximum 3 works total). Work samples may include up to 6 images, 6 audio files, and/or 6 video files (minimum 1 total sample required). Entry deadline is April 25, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Selected artwork must be received at View by May 16, 2025. The exhibition will be open in View's largest gallery from May 24, 2025 to July 27, 2025. Selection notification will be sent by May 1, 2025. View receives 35% commission on any sales made during or resulting from the exhibition. All shipping is at the expense of the artist, with a $10 handling fee per package. Juror of Selection: Rhoda Rosenberg, a master printmaker and faculty member at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts. For questions, contact Anna Brasted, Marketing & Exhibitions Associate, at [email protected] or 315-369-6411 x211.
