About This Call
The Betsy Price Citywide High School Art Competition is open to all high school students in Fort Worth, TX and surrounding areas within a 20 mile radius. Works must be 2-D or 3-D, original, and completed within the last year. Two-dimensional works cannot exceed 60" in height or width including frame. Three-dimensional works cannot exceed 24" in height or width. All works must be available through the entire run of the show and ready to hang. Photographs, drawings, or other 2D paper works must be framed (matted work will not be accepted). Do not submit works that might be sold or shown elsewhere during the exhibition timeframe.
Entrants may submit up to three digital images of different artworks via CaFÉ with no entry fee. Each work must be represented by only one image. Juror Spencer Wigmore, Assistant Curator of Paintings, Sculpture, and Works on Paper at The Amon Carter Museum of American Art, will select works for exhibition. Juror's choices will be announced via email and the CaFÉ website no later than April 16, 2019.
The exhibition runs May 1 – May 21, 2019 at Fort Worth Community Arts Center, with an opening reception on May 3, 2019, 6pm - 9pm. A final award ceremony presented by the Mayor will be held May 11, 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. Awards: 1st place - $500 (also exhibited in Fort Worth City Hall for 1 year); 2nd place - $300; 3rd place - $100. Selected works will be featured in a 3-week exhibition at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center. All 2-D works must have hangers or be wired for hanging and must be delivered by April 26, 2019 to Fort Worth Community Arts Center (gallery hours 9-5pm).
