About This Call
The Artist as Quiltmaker XVIII is a national juried exhibition open to artists living in the U.S. or Canada. Juror Emily Zilber, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston's Ronald L. and Anita C. Wornick Curator of Contemporary Decorative Arts, will oversee the selection. Innovative two- and three-dimensional quilts are invited. Artists may submit up to three entries with an entry fee of $35.00 per submission.
Eligibility requirements: Work must be completed in 2016 or 2017. Collaborative works are invited; artists submitting both collaborative and individual works must apply separately. Artwork must be an original design/concept and not created in a class or workshop. Student work is accepted if created outside the classroom and without an instructor's guidance. Maximum height or width is 108".
Submissions require 2-9 digital images (JPG format, 300 ppi, 1200 pixels on longest side, 5MB maximum). Two-dimensional unframed work requires a full image and detail image. Two-dimensional framed work requires a full image, detail image, and full image framed without glass. Three-dimensional sculptural work requires a full image, detail image, and additional view. All images must be on a neutral background with all outside edges visible and accurate color representation. Include a brief artist's statement (50 words) specific to each piece. Artists will be notified by email or phone by January 5, 2018. The exhibition runs May 13 - July 29, 2018. Contact Ruta Marino at [email protected] with questions.
