The Artist as Quiltmaker XIX

The Artist as Quiltmaker XIX is an exhibition for innovative two- and three-dimensional quilts. Artists living in the U.S. or Canada may submit up to three pieces for consideration. Work must be completed in 2018 or 2019. Collaborative works are eligible, though artists submitting both collaborative and individual works must apply separately with different email addresses. Artwork must be an original design/concept and not created in a class or workshop; student work is acceptable if created outside the classroom and without an instructor's guidance. Maximum height or width is 108".

Entry fee is $40.00 per artwork. Artists submitting multiple artworks should submit separate applications and use coupon codes Entry2 and Entry3 to waive additional entry fees. Two-dimensional entries require two images (overall and detail); three-dimensional entries require three images (overall, detail, and one additional full-image view). Images must be JPEG or JPG format, 1200 pixels or greater on the longest side, and under 5 MB. Jurying will be from digital images only, and work differing significantly from digital images will be disqualified.

Accepted work must arrive at FAVA (39 S. Main St., Oberlin, Ohio 44074) between April 21-24, 2020. Round-trip transit insurance and shipping costs are the artist's responsibility. The exhibition opens May 16, 2020 and closes July 26, 2020. Artists will be notified of jury results by January 15, 2020. A full-color exhibition catalog will be published, and exhibitors receive a complimentary copy. FAVA retains a 30 percent commission on all sales, with payment sent to artists by September 30, 2020. FAVA will insure work for 70 percent of its fair market value while in its care.
