About This Call

The Artist as Maker, Thinker, Feeler is an all-media national juried art show held at the Cade Art Gallery, John A. Cade Center for Fine Arts at Anne Arundel Community College, 101 College Parkway, Arnold, MD 21012. The exhibition runs November 18-December 19, 2016. This call seeks art that is driven by ideas and emotions with a strong emphasis on aesthetics, materials, and craft. Work should be conceptually and emotionally dynamic while demonstrating strong embodiment of form through process. The show is open to individual interpretations of the meaning and relative importance of concept, form, and process in one's own art-making practice.

Submit up to six digital files (images, audio, video, or a combination) with an entry fee of $22. You may include a 1-2 paragraph statement describing how each piece fits with the theme or outlining a proposed installation. Applications must be received by October 14, 2016. Notifications will be emailed October 19, 2016. Hand-delivered work may be delivered November 11 (8am-3pm) or November 12 (9am-2pm). Shipped work may arrive at the gallery any time from acceptance until November 12th. All accepted work must be ready to hang or display. Two-dimensional work must have braided picture wire on the back. Fragile media should be under Plexiglas. Installation art must be prepared by the artist or have easy-to-follow instructions. The gallery has a flat screen video and access to some types of video equipment, including a projector. All works are insured against physical damage or loss from receipt through designated pickup time. Artists are responsible for shipping costs both to and from the gallery. Artwork may be picked up December 19-22, 2016.

Juror: Jack Rasmussen, Director and Curator of the American University Museum at the Katzen Arts Center. A juror's talk will be held Wednesday, December 7 at 7pm, with a public reception from 6-8pm. For more information, contact Lindsay McCulloch, Director Cade Art Gallery, at [email protected].
