The Art of Now: Pushing Boundaries

The San Diego Museum of Art Artists Guild is seeking art at the edge and beyond the traditional. The Art of Now is a call to California artists to submit work that pushes boundaries in contemporary art. The Guild invites artwork in painting and drawing, video art, installation, mixed media, fiber art, photography, and sculpture.

Submissions are open from December 30, 2025 through May 8, 2026 at midnight. Artists may submit up to 5 images per entry. Images must be jpg format, under 4 MB, in sRGB colorspace, and at least 1920 pixels on the longest side at 72 dpi. Video submissions require uploading a still image to OnlineJuriedShows and emailing the video link to [email protected]. Entry fees are $20 for SDMAAG members (first entry) and $10 for additional entries; non-members pay $35 for the first entry and $20 for additional entries. Notifications will be emailed on May 22, 2026.

The exhibition runs June 5-28, 2026 at Union Hall Gallery, 2323 Broadway #201, San Diego, CA 92102. An opening reception is scheduled for Saturday, June 6 from 4-8 PM. The juror is Max Presneill, Director and Head Curator of Torrance Art Museum. Two-dimensional works must not exceed 7 feet in height and 5 feet in width including frame. Sculpture must not exceed 3 feet wide by 7 feet tall and weigh no more than 60 pounds. Free-standing walls have a weight limit of 150 lbs or 50 lbs per side.
