The Art of Food

The Art of Food exhibition seeks to revere food and everything associated with it, from growing it to eating it, from storing it to wasting it, and anything that evokes it. After air, food is the most important thing in our lives and is expressed in seemingly infinite ways around the world. Entries are sought in any medium, both 2D and 3D.

All mediums including oil, watercolor, fiber, pastel, acrylic, photography, drawings in charcoal, color pencil, or graphite are encouraged. Sculptures and vessels in permanent materials such as clay, bronze, marble, terra cotta, fiberglass, resin, or wood are accepted. Electronic creations should include the means of storing and displaying the artwork. No giclée prints will be accepted unless the artwork was originally digitally created. Work must have been produced in the last 3 years. Maximum of 3 pieces per artist. All work must be original and not previously shown in SebArts Gallery. Wall-mounted work must include fixtures and be ready to hang.

Jurors are Kyle Connaughton, owner and chef at Single Thread Restaurant in Healdsburg (3 Michelin stars), and Lily Martine Baxter, a multi-media artist trained at Rhode Island School of Design in textile arts. Awards: 1st place $300, 2nd place $200, 3rd place $100, two $50 coordinator awards. Artists receive 60% of sales price for work sold. Entry fee is $35 plus $5 media fee. Submissions must be entered online only with images 5MB or less in JPEG format. Each entry can have one main image and up to two additional images. Artists will be notified by email of acceptance by October 1, 2024. Shipped work must arrive by October 26, 2024. Hand-delivered work must be received by October 27 or 28, 2024. Exhibition dates: August 15 - September 22, 2025.
