The Art of Disquiet: Unveiling the Magnificent and the Macabre

Artworks Center for Contemporary Art in Loveland, Colorado invites artists age 18 and older to submit work for The Art of Disquiet: Unveiling the Magnificent and the Macabre, an international juried exhibition exploring the juxtaposition of beauty and darkness. The exhibition seeks artworks that evoke a spectrum of emotions, from awe and fascination to discomfort and introspection, delving into the mysterious and shadowy aspects of existence.

Eligible media include painting, photography, printmaking, mixed media, fibers, metals, woodworking, ceramics, glass, and sculpture. Ineligible work includes decorated furniture, giclee prints, candles, pressed flowers, handmade reproductions, and objects made from commercial kits or commercially available plans. Submit up to six high-resolution images of original artworks, along with a brief artist statement (250 words maximum) explaining your artistic practice and interpretation of the theme, and a concise biography (150 words maximum) outlining your artistic background and achievements.

Entry fee is $35. Selected artists will be notified by September 22, 2023. The exhibition runs October 13 through December 23, 2023 at Artworks Center for Contemporary Art. Selected artists are responsible for shipping or delivering artworks by October 6, 2023, and picking up work by January 5, 2024. The exhibition will include an opening reception, artist talk, and educational programs.
