The Art of Craft

The Art of Craft will explore art forms rooted in practicality through design, innovation and skill. Whether leveraging old techniques or new technologies, the objects continue to honor their history and relationship to the handmade. Craft contributes to the economic, social, and personal well-being of the maker and the community, and connects to our cultural histories.

Eligible artists and craftspeople must be currently living and creating artwork in New York State and working in any craft medium including woodwork, furniture, ceramics, weaving, quilting, metalwork, glass, leatherwork, woodturning, papermaking, fiber arts, jewelry making, beadwork, basketry, embroidery, bookbinding, stonemasonry, and cast iron and metal work. All entries must have been created within the past 5 years and must be original design and personal execution. Artwork previously shown at View is not eligible. All work must be able to be moved or placed by one person and must be priced for sale or valued for insurance purposes.

Entry fee is $25 ($20 for View Members) for submission of one work. Additional works may be submitted at $10 per image, with a maximum of five works total. Work samples may include 1-15 images, 0-6 audio files, and 0-6 video files (maximum 20 total samples). The exhibition runs December 9, 2023 through March 16, 2024. Selected works must be received by December 1, 2023. View retains a 35% commission on all works sold. All shipping is at the artist's expense with a $10 handling fee per package. Works will be insured by View for the duration of the exhibition. Selection notification will be provided by November 17, 2023.
