The Art of Abstraction at Art Works Downtown

Art Works Downtown is hosting an exhibition exploring the full range of abstract art, including both objective and non-objective artworks. The juror is Toni Littlejohn, artist and Board President of Gallery Route One in Point Reyes, California.

Eligibility is limited to SF Bay Area artists who live within 100 miles of San Rafael, California. The exhibition is open to all visual arts media, with the following requirements: original artwork only (no giclees or reproductions), maximum size of six feet in any dimension, and video submissions must include a player and monitor (projections are prohibited). Submissions must not have previously exhibited in the AWD 1337 Gallery. Entry fee is $40 for up to 3 entries, with discounts available for AWD Artist Members. Submissions require 1-3 work samples (images and/or video) and must be submitted through callforentry.org.

Accepted entries must be hand-delivered to Art Works Downtown, 1337 Fourth Street, San Rafael between 11am and 4pm on Saturday, June 3. Artists must deliver work ready for installation, with wall-hung pieces securely wired. An artist statement and resume should be included. The artist must sign a consignment contract upon delivery. The reception is Friday, June 9, 5-8pm, with a second reception Friday, July 14, 5-8pm. Unsold artwork may be picked up Saturday, July 29, 10am-4pm. Artists who do not retrieve their work will be charged a storage fee of $1.00 per day, and works remaining after 30 days become property of Art Works Downtown. Notification of acceptance or rejection will be sent by email on May 19 or 20.
