The Abstract Exhibit

Gallery 46 is an extension of Mid-City Artisans, a premier retail art and gift store in Baton Rouge. The 1,600 square foot gallery is located in the contemporary Square 46 development at 515 Mouton Street, Suite 202. The gallery seeks to promote both Louisiana and national artists through its artist spotlight series as well as themed, open-call shows.

This exhibition is open to artists ages 18 and up residing in the United States. Acceptable media include painting (all media), drawing, printmaking, photography, sculpture, ceramics, and collage. Artwork must be original in design and execution. Maximum size for framed or unframed canvas is 20" x 20"; sculpture and ceramics must have a base no larger than 20 inches. All works must be framed unless painted on minimum 1½ inch gallery-wrapped canvas with painted sides. Works must arrive ready to hang with screw eyes/D-rings and wire properly attached. Frames must be simple, plain, non-ornate, and no wider than 3". Work deemed inappropriate for public viewing by all ages will not be accepted.

Entry fee is $35 per entry (non-refundable). Submissions require 1-3 images. Registration opens August 12. Entry deadline is September 25 at midnight online. Accepted entries will be notified by email by October 3. Artwork must be shipped or hand-delivered between October 4-18. The exhibition runs October 20 - December 29, 2023. Awards include First Place ($150), Second Place ($100), and Third Place ($50), with additional Merit, Honorable Mention, and Merchandise Awards possible. Gallery 46 charges a 30% commission on sales. Unless artwork is sold, shipping costs in both directions are paid by the artist. Hand-delivered work may be picked up December 30, 2022 - January 8 between 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM (closed Mondays).
