About This Call
Angad Arts Hotel invites submissions for The 9th Biannual Exhibition, celebrating five years of local art. This exhibition features works from local and regional artists within a 200-mile radius of the hotel in Saint Louis. There is no theme for this submission process. Artists are encouraged to submit work they are most excited to share and to include an artist statement describing their inspiration and recent work.
Submissions may include drawing, painting, graphic design, photography, printmaking, glass, assemblage, collage, written word, fiber, sculpture, or video media. Final pieces must be professionally framed and/or ready for display. Submissions must include final dimensions with framing. Special opportunities are available for textile artists (installation up to 110 inches high and 60-300 inches wide at the reception desk) and video media (displayed on TV via USB in express elevators). Sculpture must be wall-mounted protruding no more than six inches with professional hanging hardware.
Eligibility is open to individuals living in the St. Louis region and surrounding 200-mile radius (Chicago, IL and Kansas City, MO are not eligible). Entry fee is $35 (no fee until September 22, 2023). Submissions must include full name and contact information, social media handles, artist statement, purchase valuation including 40% commission, high-resolution JPEG of artwork with framing, and artwork title, size, weight, media description, and dimensions. Optional materials include curriculum vitae and written summary of relevant experience (500 words maximum).
Submission deadline is October 8, 2023 at 10:59 p.m. CST. Notification to all entrants will be sent by October 13, 2023. Artwork must be delivered no later than October 17, 2023. The opening reception is November 1, 2023, and the exhibition remains on display until late April 2024. Selected artwork will be displayed in prominent public spaces throughout the hotel with high visibility to national and international guests. Artwork will be promoted through the hotel's website, social media, and online shop at www.shop.angadartshotel.com. Angad Arts Hotel retains 40% commission on sales; artists receive 60%. Sold artwork must remain on display for the duration of the exhibition.
