About This Call
The Romeo Guild of Art presents the 58th Annual Thumb Area Artists Exhibition, running August 30 to September 28, 2018 at Starkweather Arts Center, 219 N. Main, Romeo, Michigan 48065. The exhibit opens August 30th with an opening reception and awards presentation on Friday, September 7, 2018 from 7PM-9PM. Awards total over $1,000. The juror is Clinton Snider, an award-winning Detroit artist and instructor at the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center.
Eligibility: Artists must be 18 years or older and reside in one of the following counties: Genesee, Huron, Lapeer, Macomb, Oakland, Sanilac, St. Clair, Tuscola, or Wayne. Maximum 2 entries per artist. All entries must be for sale and priced. Acceptable media include oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, drawing, graphics, and sculpture (wood, metal, etc.). Fibers, photography, and computer-generated art are not acceptable. Original work completed within the last two years and not previously exhibited in the Thumb Area Artists Exhibition is eligible. Class work and reproductions of copyrighted works will not be accepted. A 30% commission will be taken by Starkweather Arts Center on all artwork sales. Sold work must remain in place until the show's end.
Entry fee is $30 for Romeo Guild of Art members in good standing and $35 for non-members. Submit entries online through CaFE at www.CallForEntry.org by August 16 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Wall pieces must be framed for hanging with wire only—no saw tooth hooks. Artwork may not exceed 40" in height, width, or depth. All entries should be able to be handled by one person. Accepted artwork delivery is August 25, 10AM-3:30PM. Artist notification is August 22 by email. Art pick-up is September 29, 10AM-3:30PM.
