The 40th Annual Virginia Watercolor Society Juried Exhibition 2019

This exhibition is open to members of the Virginia Watercolor Society. Current paid membership is required for entry. Eligible work includes paintings in watercolor and other watermedia, including water soluble ink on paper or Yupo. No canvas, digital, computer-generated, or Gicleé art. If other media are used, water-based media must dominate the piece. Collage elements are accepted if adhered paper pieces are painted in watermedia by the artist. All paintings must have been completed on or after January 1, 2015 and not painted under supervision. Paintings may not infringe on another's copyright, and if photo references are used, they must be the artist's own photographs. Paintings accepted for previous VWS juried exhibitions are ineligible. A maximum of three digital images may be submitted. Entry fee is $35.00 for 1-3 images.

Juror John Salminen NWS, AWS.DF will select no more than one painting per artist from digital images. Selected paintings must then be submitted for the exhibition. Final selections will be from actual submitted paintings. All artists will be notified of the juror's decision by email by April 15, 2019. Accepted paintings must be ready for hanging with appropriate hardware and wire, framed under plexiglass or acrylic glazing (no glass), using only white or off-white matting. Maximum frame size in any direction is 44 inches. Hand-delivered paintings will be received May 18-19, 10:00 am-3:00 pm at Maguire Woods Gallery, Workhouse Art Center, 9518 Workhouse Way, Lorton, VA 22079. Pick-up is August 3-4, 10:00 am-3:00 pm. Shipped paintings should be sent to Navis Pack & Ship, Virginia Watercolor Society, 6671 Santa Barbara Rd, Suite E, Elkridge, MD 21075, with paid return shipping. Awards will be given at the juror's discretion, with a top award of $1,500 provided by the Virginia Watercolor Society. All submissions must include prices; NFS is acceptable.
