About This Call
Dublin Arts Council is seeking to commission an artist to create a site-specific permanent public artwork in Thaddeus Kosciuszko Park in Dublin, Ohio. The heavily wooded 36.5-acre park features hiking trails, fishing ponds, and a sinkhole overlook. The park is located at the northeast corner of Hard Road and Riverside Drive, a highly visible intersection with approximately 30,000 vehicles passing daily.
The project budget is $150,000, all-inclusive, covering artist/design fee, materials, fabrication, installation, transportation, insurance, project documentation, engineering, travel, site modification, and contingency expenses. The artwork must be original, durable, low-maintenance, appropriate for a pedestrian environment, and able to withstand year-round Ohio outdoor weather conditions. Creative interpretations, including abstract work, will be considered. Artists will retain copyright and VARA rights.
The call is open to all professional U.S. citizens who live and work in the United States. Artist teams are considered, but only a single artist will be contracted as project manager. Finalists will receive a $2,500 stipend and travel expenses for a mandatory site visit in early-to-mid November 2015 and a proposal presentation in early-to-mid January 2016. Applications must be submitted digitally by Monday, October 19, 2015 at 11:59:59 p.m. MDT and should include six digital images (minimum 1920 pixels on longest edge, maximum 5MB each), caption sheet, resume/CV, three references, and a letter of interest (1-3 pages). Audio and video clips (up to three each) are also accepted. The artwork will be installed and dedicated in mid-September 2016, after which title transfers to the City of Dublin.
