About This Call

TRINITY METRO is seeking to commission eight local artists to create original, site-specific, two-dimensional artworks for eight TEXRail Stations. TEXRail is a new 27-mile commuter rail line extending from downtown Fort Worth through northeast Tarrant County, North Richland Hills, and Grapevine to DFW International Airport's Terminal B. The line is projected to serve more than 8,000 daily riders at nine stations by the end of the first year of operation, with nearly 14,000 riders projected by 2035.

Station locations include: Downtown Fort Worth (2 stations: Texas & Pacific Terminal and Intermodal Transportation Center), North Fort Worth (2 stations: NE 28th Street and Mercantile at Beach Street), North Richland Hills (2 stations: Ironhorse and Smithfield), and Grapevine (2 stations: Main Street and DFW North). Selected artists will furnish high-resolution digital files that TRINITY METRO will reproduce as print graphics integrated into polymer resin windscreens. Each station will have six to sixteen windscreens measuring 3'-0" in width x 4'-8" in height.

Three artist finalists will be selected for each station and placed under a Proposal Agreement to develop a conceptual design within 6 weeks. Artist finalists receive $1,500 compensation. The selected artist for each station receives $3,240-$8,640 (based on scope of work/station size) for high-resolution digital files. Eligibility is open to North Texas-based artists at least 18 years of age. Any two-dimensional media is acceptable. Submissions must include a brief artist statement, resume, three professional references, and ten images of completed two-dimensional artwork. An artist information meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, December 19, 2018, 6:00 p.m., at TRINITY METRO's Intermodal Transportation Center, 1001 Jones Street, Fort Worth, TX 76102.
